Frequently asked questions
Who manages 1000 Words?
This website is managed by Disruptive Media – a design and strategic communications for social change studio based in Melbourne, Australia.
It has been developed in partnership with xpand Foundation – a not-for-profit organisation that creates and supports social enterprises, who encourage social inclusion of disadvantaged people to build their social and economic participation, in a society committed to a green future in the digital age.
How does it work?
We would love you to enjoy our photographs, so we've decided to make our photo collection available to access and share. You can download web-optimised images for free and purchase, via donation, and premium photos for print. Each time you download a high-res photo, a donation of $15 is then transferred to Disruptive Media, who will purchase and plant a tree in Timor-Leste on your behalf. This is done on a monthly basis, on the 1st day of each month, and is calculated based on donations collected.
We will update the homepage with donations received and trees sold, as soon as donations are made.
This is a not-for-profit enterprise, with all monies raised going to supporting WithOneSeed and CarbonSocial projects.
